3- Who said it?
We’ll give you quotes from the container shipping news of 2023, and you have to name the prominent person who said it.
1- “We will go a bit slower in 2024, but by how much remains to be seen. This is partly because of CII reasons, but also because we want to improve schedule reliability. That means that in quite a few services, we will add a ship. On the one hand that will improve reliability, but it means we have more buffer in the system and that will result in between 0.5 kts and 1 kts lower speed on average.”
2- “The support of Governments across the world will be an essential element to reach our common goal and among those efforts we want to see an end to delivery of ships that can only run on fossil fuels. We have fully supported and committed to net decarbonization by 2050 but without the full support from other stakeholders particularly energy providers it will be extremely difficult to meet those objectives – no one can do this alone.”
3- “Most probably 2024 will be pretty much the same as the second half of ’23, provided [there is] no exceptional crisis. We expect more tension in the months to come. We see that the demand is not as strong as before, we see crisis around the world, and this is having an impact on the shipping business.”
4- “First, we have got to get the green fuel. So, the key three solutions, which are really methanol, ammonia, potentially synthetic LNG … require a lot of green hydrogen. Many other industries are competing for green hydrogen, so we need to make this call to all governments, to the IMO (International Maritime Organization). We need to accelerate the production of green hydrogen across the energy companies.”
5- “Our industry is facing a new normal with subdued demand, prices back in line with historical levels and inflationary pressure on our cost base. Given the challenging times ahead, we accelerated several costs- and cash- containment measures to safeguard our financial performance.”
